Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
