19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
