Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
