Information Available Regarding the Fatalities of the Bondi Beach Shooting
At least 16 individuals perished and more than 40 sustained injuries when gunmen fired on a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian police have called a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, officials have confirmed the number of fatalities is 16, including one of the suspected gunmen. Furthermore, 42 injured people were admitted to medical facilities.
Those who died are still awaiting publicly named, but authorities state their ages are between 10 and 87 years old.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Reportedly a father of five children, he worked as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and acquaintances described him as āvivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting othersā.
āHow is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?ā a family member remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.
She recounted the moments before the shooting, stating they were standing when the gunfire erupted. āHe shielded me because he wished to be near me,ā she said.
The couple were both Holocaust survivors, having endured unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had later immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French foreign ministry have confirmed that French man Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Officially, the Foreign Minister declared that France stood with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
āThis despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a revolting outpouring of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,ā the message read.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was taken to the Sydney Childrenās Hospital succumbed to her injuries, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was a fatality during the attack, as per reports referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, many are still receiving treatment, with five in critical condition. The injured include two police officers who responded to the attack.
One of the injured is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the attackers. Described as a local hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. Reports indicate he was wounded and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the incident as an āutter carnage,ā but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He stated he believed it was a āstroke of luckā he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the shooting. He said he heard āa large numberā of shots.
āI thought it was something less lethal, but itās gone into my own skin and into my leg,ā he stated. āI was hit. I received first aid. Iām ok.ā
