Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
