Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season

In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned practices and terrifying transformations echo through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser concludes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Extra Content

Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

  • Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa attire for Naoe
  • Exclusive implements
  • Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
